Sinus Augmentation

Post-Operative Instructions

Antibiotics: Antibiotics will be prescribed post-operatively (Clavulin, Clindamycin, Clarithromycin or Ciprofloxacin). Often you will begin taking antibiotics the day prior to surgery and then continued for one week.

Analgesics: Analgesics will be recommended or prescribed to control any discomfort.

Nasal spray / decongestants: These may be recommended to keep the nasal cavity and sinuses clear and dry. These can be obtained over-the-counter.

DO NOT BLOW NOSE for two weeks after the surgery. If you feel the need to cough or sneeze, please do so with an open mouth.

Ice should be applied to the cheek area to reduce swelling for two days. It should be used for 10-15 minutes on and 10-15 minutes off. Sipping cold fluids may also help to reduce any swelling.

Elevation: Sleep or rest with your head elevated if possible to reduce swelling and congestion.
